When you think of pests its generally assumed that you think of those that are either scary spider or repulsive roach. Nope, not today. Today we are going to be looking at some of the cutest pests in the world. You may even want to keep some of these pests as pets (not recommended). Get ready for an adventure in adorable.
Darling Damselfly
The darling damselfly Looking something like a dragonfly (which are a relative) but they are blue with a black racing stripe down their black and with what looks like a sweet smile on their faces they are one of the cutest of all pests.
Ladybug
No list of cute pests would be complete without mentioning the ladybug. Its small round body and black dots or no dots, doesn’t really matter and when they land on you, they will most assuredly bring a smile to your face. And if you are lucky enough to have a few around your roses, you won’t have to worry about aphids since those are ones of their favorite snacks.
Jewel Beetle
The jewel beetle appears to be a green metallic color and looks elegant as it sits atop a leaf. They are even sought after for decorative purposes, the more ornate their color the better.
Pink Meadow Grasshopper
The pink meadow grasshopper has a body almost identical to that of their green and brown counterparts, but they are a bright, attractive green. There is a sad fact about this beautiful insect; since they are so brightly colored very few of them live into adulthood. Their beauty is also their downfall as it makes them an easy target for predators.
Swallowtail Caterpillar
You know the story of the “ugly” caterpillar that becomes the beautiful butterfly? That isn’t the story here. The swallowtail caterpillar one starts out beautiful and becomes even more so. He is just too adorable for words with a green body, some black spots on his back and inquisitive eyes, he looks like a kid on his way to school.
Rosy Maple Moth
You are probably thinking, “wait a moth?” Yes a moth. This one is too cute. The rosy maple moth actually reminds one of a superhero with her pink body and legs coupled with a gold helmet and what appears as a gold and pink cape for wings. I am not even sure if the rosy maple moth should even be on a list of pests since it really isn’t one. Larvae will eat leaves on trees, but the adults don’t even eat. This might be the perfect “pest”.
Jumping Spiders
Lost on this one? Hear this out. The jumping spider looks like a character. The typical eight legs, fur thing going on for sure. But the rest is just comical. Two big ole button that look like nose holes, eyes that look like they have one super long eyelash and what looks like a cheesy smile, there isn’t much not to like about this particular pest. Well, as long as you are viewing them in a picture and not in your home.
Cottony Cushion Scale
The cottony cushion scale is so ugly its actually kind of cute. Looking like a striped, white cookie on the back and a head that, well you just kind of have to see it. At first you will think what happened to the poor bug but then you realize that’s the way it is supposed to look. So strange it’s kinda cute.
Saddleback Caterpillar
Move over, Rover, you have competition. Looking like one of the most adorable dogs you have ever seen, the saddleback caterpillar appears to be a Scottish terrier but in bug form. The best part about this one is that if he asks you to take him for a walk, he’ll probably get tired before you do.
Big Eyed Caterpillar
Looking like an anime character, the big eyed caterpillar looks like he is just an inquisitive bug that wants to come up and cuddle.
Conclusion
While pests are pests it is important to appreciate them for the beauty that they were designed with. The ones on this list are beautiful, comical, or just adorable, they are above all cute. But you probably want to admire them from pictures and not in your home.
